Modular Distance Learning: Its Effect in the Academic Performance of Learners in the New Normal

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, schools, particularly in the rural areas employed Modular Distance Learning (MDL) ensure education continuity. This study seeks investigate effects of MDL academic performance learners whether there is a significant difference their before and after implementation MDL. Mixed method was applied this study; Quantitative using T-Test compare GWA Qualitative through use semi-structured interview find out perceived effect 15 parents, 10 learners, 7 teachers recommendations. The revealed that 2.25% decrease denotes performance. strengthens family bonding, independent learning, cost-effective. However, it an additional workload working limited teacher-learner interaction, lack socialization with other children have no exposure school activities but are rather exposed many distractions at home. To bridge gaps, simplifying modules accompanied by video lessons audio recordings, conduct online mediations, neighborhood instruction home visitations recommended. results will help reflect on current teaching strategies improve learning outcomes. Future researchers who research related may also consider findings drafting concepts.
